Some books transform your life, others confirm it. For me, Women who Run with the Wolves, was the ultimate confirmation of my journey. In every chapter, I’d find myself screaming ‘Yes!’, breathing a sigh of relief or just bathing in the stories that called to every cell in my being.
First published in 1992, it has now become a women’s classic. Written in fables and stories, which are interpreted through a mix of Jungian psychology and ancient wisdom, it truly covers all the major touch points in a woman’s life.
This book isn’t an easy read. To be honest it took me 12 years from first sight to start it. But when I did, it consumed me and I couldn’t put it down.
It seems to be one of those books that you read after you’ve begun the journey, not before. At first it scared me, seemed too much, too out there, too unlike my life at that time. It only resonated when I’d owned the parts of me it focuses on.
I can highly recommend it for women who have already stepped into their underworld journey of life, who are willing to face their shadows and their strengths and to fully embrace the very core of what it means to be a woman.
